Des Moines Ren Faire 2005 PosterThere are hundreds of websites, message boards and mailing lists dedicated to renaissance festivals. Here is a list of a few of our favorites:

RenReporter.com - Home of the Regional Renaissance Reporter, a quarterly publication ($8/year for subscriptions) dealing with renaissance festivals and related events.

AtTheFaire.com - The sponsor of this website, ATF is home to over 20,000 digital photos taken at renaissance festivals in Iowa, Illinois, Kansas, Minnesota, Missouri, Michigan, Nebraska, Oklahoma, South Dakota, and Wisconsin. In addition to the extensive photo gallery, they have a message board ("The Pub") and various newbie guides for those wanting to become more involved. An extensive list of regional festivals (outside of the scope of this site) is also to be found.

Faires.com - Mike Bonk's directorie. One of the oldest (if not the oldest) still-updated festival index site on the web (and the most "ren" themed).

RenaissanceFestival.com - There are a number of festival index sites on the web, but this is the closest. Based in the Kansas City area, this site maintains a list of nearly 200 active festivals around the country. There is also a message board and an extensive index of renaissance festival performers and merchants.

RenRadio.com - Ever wanted to find a 24 hour a day streaming internet radio station that plays nothing but the types of music you'd heard at renaissance festivals? This is the place! (And, sometimes, you can even hear actual renaissance music, too!)

The Rencast - A renaissance festival podcast featuring interviews and news. Download the MP3 and listen on your computer, or play on your MP3 player or iPod. (No iPod required - it's just an audio file.) Also available in iTunes.

Renaissance Festival Podcast - A weekly music podcast featuring music by festival performers.
